Louise Denson & Helen Russell at MONA

15/01/2019

Last week Helen and I had the wonderful opportunity to perform as a duo in the Nolan Gallery of Hobart's iconic contemporary art museum, MONA. I've posted a few pix at my FB page (courtesy or our friend Jenny Cocking) - you can see what an extraordinary and inspiring environment it is to play in! We were able to play completely un-amplified which is a rare and very pleasant experience nowadays. In fact, the gallery prefers this since loud music disturbs the contemplative vibe in the room. Several friends and relatives came to cheer us on, and many patrons gave us appreciative acknoweldgement as they moved from one incredible and huge exhibit to the next. MONA has a year long live music program, in- and outdoor, winter and summer, in addition to the two MOFO festivals which are internationally celebrated gatherings of cutting edge artists in every medium and practice. The outdoor program is free. MONA is a unique and wonderful place! If you're ever in Hobart, don't miss it!
