Enthusiastic Musicians Orchestra

I am looking forward to several performances this year of a suite for big band and saxophone soloist that I am currently writing. This is a collaborative project between myself and multi-instrumentalist, Diana Tolmie. The work is called “Flora Australiae” and has three movements, each dedicated to a particular species of Australian plant. I have been enjoying digging into scores and recordings of compositions by Maria Schneider, Vince Mendoza, Carla Bley, Gil Evans, Jens Winther, Kenny Wheeler and many others as I work on developing my ideas. The first performance will be by E.M.O. (Enthusiastic Musicians Orchestra) at the Brisbane International Jazz Festival, Thu May 31.
